Interview With rIVerse

rIVerse is an internationally acclaimed music group, heralded for its high concept art pop and inclusive messaging. As a collective of BIPOC, multi-racial, queer and plus size artists, the members of rIVerse have faced several intersections of adversity -- and above it all clung to music as their salvation; utilizing social media to circumvent the historic gatekeeping of the mainstream entertainment industry, self-releasing two albums and garnering over half a million subscribers on YouTube.

“Our mission is to represent the underrepresented” says group leader Dizz, “We want to empower our fans to know that everybody is uniquely powerful. Whether you’re gay, straight, white, black, young, old, man, woman, petite or plus size you can do, have and be whatever you want.”

Dizz, Khadija, Zak, and Monroe discuss how their music has evolved and who inspires them, HIV+ life and the necessity for education and compassion, and what the multi-racial, queer Canadian pop group has been up to during quarantine.
